Învaţă să aştepţi timpul lui Dumnezeu

Întotdeauna obiceiul lui David a fost să caute voia Domnului în toate lucrurile. În 2 Samuel 5:17-25 citim despre două bătălii împotriva filistenilor, în care David a cautat voia lui Dumnezeu. A doua oară Domnul i-a spus să-şi schimbe strategia şi să-i atace din spate. De fiecare dată Domnul a schimbat strategia. David era un războinic, dar el şi-a primit întotdeauna strategia de la Domnul şi de aceea, a câştigat de fiecare dată. Când era foamete în ţinut, el L-a întrebat pe Domnul de ce era foamete (2 Samuel 21:1). Au fost totuşi unele lucruri cu privire la care David nu a căutat voia Domnului.
Trei exemple dintre acestea sunt: (1) când s-a căsătorit cu şase neveste (2 Samuel 3); (2) când a chemat-o pe Bat-Şeba la palatul lui (2 Samuel 11) şi (3) când a făcut numărătoarea lui Israel (2 Samuel 24). Pentru toate aceste eşecuri, el a plătit un preţ foarte greu. Dar de fiecare dată când a aşteptat ca Domnul să-l îndrume, nu s-a rătăcit. Aceasta este o lecţie şi o avertizare pentru fiecare dintre noi.
Bărbaţii din Iuda au venit şi l-au uns pe David ca rege peste casa lui Iuda, mai întâi. Mai târziu el a fost uns ca rege peste tot Israelul (2 Samuel 5:3-5). Avea 30 de ani când a devenit rege peste Iuda. A trebuit să aştepte încă 7 ani şi jumătate, pentru a domni peste întregul Israel. Astfel, a trebuit sa aştepte mai mult de 20 de ani în total, pentru ca Domnul să-Şi împlinească promisiunea făcută faţă de el. Timpul lui de aşteptare a fost aproape la fel de lung ca al lui Avraam! Dar David a aşteptat cu răbdare. Suntem chemaţi să urmăm exemplul unor astfel de oameni, care prin credinţă şi răbdare au moştenit promisiunile lui Dumnezeu. David nu a apucat tronul de unul singur. A aşteptat ca Dumnezeu să i-l dea, la timpul Său. Cât de diferită ar fi fost povestea lui dacă ar fi adoptat aceeaşi atitudine de a nu pune mâna pentru a-şi însuşi, când era vorba de Bat-Şeba.
Dacă vrei să fii un om după inima lui Dumnezeu, învaţă să nu apuci ceva de unul singur. Iacov a fost un om care s-a grăbit să-şi însuşească lucruri, şi atâta timp cât a facut aceasta, el nu a putut deveni Israel. Copiii vin pe lume cu pumnii strânşi. Dacă-ţi pui un deget în mâna unui bebeluş, el îţi va apuca imediat degetul. Pe măsură ce creşte, el învaţă să apuce jucării şi multe alte lucruri. Aceasta e natura omului – apucă lucruri pentru sine. Ne consumăm toată viaţa punând mâna pentru a ne însuşi lucruri. Luptăm pentru putere, reputaţie şi bani, cât şi pentru multe alte lucruri.
Isus a fost altfel. El nu a agonisit ceva pentru El Însuşi, niciodată. Pumnii Lui nu erau strânşi. Mâinile Lui erau întotdeauna deschise pentru toţi oamenii. În final, El Şi-a deschis mâinile şi pentru a fi răstignit pe Calvar. Acesta este exemplul de urmat pentru noi toţi. Supuneţi-vă. Renunţaţi la drepturile voastre. Daţi altora şi Domnul vă va înapoia vouă, din belşug. Dumnezeu Însuşi vă va da o lucrare, o poziţie şi orice altceva de care aveţi nevoie – doar dacă sunteţi dispuşi să aşteptaţi timpul Său. Este cu mult mai bine să primim lucruri de la Dumnezeu decât să ne grăbim să le apucăm noi de unii singuri. Nu era nevoie ca Iacov să-şi câştige dreptul de întâi născut înşelându-l pe fratele său. Putea să aştepte ca Dumnezeu să i-l dea – cum a facut David. Şi Dumnezeu i l-ar fi dat. Ne exprimăm lipsa de credinţă în Dumnezeu de fiecare dată când ne grăbim să apucăm ceva de unii singuri.
Să presupunem că eşti atras sau atrasă de o tânără sau de un tânăr, cu care doreşti să te căsătoreşti. Poţi să începi să te gândeşti aşa: “Dacă nu pun mâna pe ea/el, altcineva o va face.” Aceasta este necredinţă. Dacă te încrezi în Dumnezeu, nu vei fi nerăbdător/nerăbdătoare şi nu te vei grăbi să apuci. În schimb, tu vei spune: “Doamne, ceea ce Tu ai hotărât pentru mine, eu cu siguranţă voi primi. Nimeni nu se poate căsători cu persoana pe care Tu ai hotarât-o pentru mine.” Acelaşi principiu se aplică fiecărei lucrări pe care Dumnezeu va fi pregătit-o pentru tine. Nimeni altcineva nu poate pune mâna să şi-o însuşească. Dumnezeu te va conduce spre acea lucrare, dacă aştepţi timpul Său.
Învaţă să te încrezi în Dumnezeu şi niciodată să nu te plângi de oameni. Dacă Dumnezeu te face să aştepţi 20 de ani, aşteaptă. Vei deveni un lider mult mai bun la sfârşitul celor 20 de ani. După cum am vazut, Saul şi Solomon nu au învăţat niciodată să aştepte. S-au născut în confort şi au trăit fără necazuri sau presiuni. Îmi pare rău pentru oricine are o viaţă atât de comodă şi uşoară încât nu trece prin necazuri sau presiuni. Celui care a înfruntat respingerea din partea celorlalţi oameni, Dumnezeu îi dă o lucrare de făcut.

Learn To Wait For God’s Time

David’s constant habit was to seek the Lord’s will about everything. In 2 Samuel 5:17-25, we read of two battles against the Philistines in which David sought the will of God. The second time, the Lord told him to change his strategy and to attack them from the rear. Each time the Lord changed the strategy. David was a man of war, but he always got his strategy from the Lord and that was why he always won. When there was a famine in the land, he asked the Lord why there was a famine (2 Sam.21:1). There were however some matters on which he did not seek the Lord’s will.
Three examples of that are:
(1) when he got married to six wives (2 Sam.3);
(2) when he called Bathsheba to his palace (2 Sam.11) and
(3) when he took a census of Israel (2 Sam.24).
And for all these failures, he paid a very heavy price. But whenever he waited on the Lord for guidance, he never went astray. This is a lesson and a warning for all of us.
The men of Judah came and anointed David king over the house of Judah first. Later on he was anointed king over all Israel (2 Samuel 5:3-5). He was 30 years old when he became king over Judah. And he had to wait for another 7½ years, before he ruled over all Israel. So he had to wait for more than 20 years in all, before God fulfilled His promise to him. His waiting period was almost as long as Abraham’s! But David waited patiently. We are called to follow the examples of such men who through faith and patience inherited God’s promises. David never grabbed the throne for himself. He waited for God to give it to him in His own time. If only he had adopted the same attitude of not grabbing when it came to Bathsheba, how different his story would have been.
If you want to be a man after God’s own heart, learn not to grab. Jacob was a grabber, and as long as he was a grabber he could not become Israel. Children are born into the world with their fists closed. If you put your finger into a baby’s hand, he will grab your finger immediately. As he grows up, he learns to grab toys and many other things. That is man’s nature – grabbing things for himself. We spend all our lives grabbing things for ourselves. We grab for position, honour and money and many other things.
Jesus was different. He never grabbed anything for Himself. He fists were not closed. His palms were always open towards all people. Finally He opened His palms to be crucified on Calvary too. That is the example for all of us to follow. Yield. Give up your rights. Give to others and God will give back to you in abundance. God Himself will give you a ministry, a position and everything else you need – if only you can wait for His time. It is far better to get things from God than to grab them ourselves. Jacob did not have to grab the birthright, by deceiving his father. He could have waited for God to give it to him – like David did. And God would have given it to him. We express our lack of faith in God, every time we grab something.
Suppose you are attracted to a young man or woman, whom you want to get married to. You could begin to think like this: “If I don’t grab her/him quickly, somebody else will get her/him.” That is unbelief. If you trust in God, you won’t be impatient and grab. Instead, you will say, “Lord, what You have reserved for me, I will definitely get. No-one can marry a person whom you have reserved for me.” The same principle applies to any ministry that God may have planned for you. No-one else can grab that. God will lead you into that ministry, if you wait on Him.
Learn to trust God and never complain against people. If God makes you wait for 20 years, wait. You will become a much better leader at the end of that time. As we saw, Saul and Solomon never learnt to wait for anything. They were born into comfort and lived without any trials and pressures. I feel sorry for anyone whose life is so comfortable and easy, that he has no trials or pressures. It’s the one who has faced rejection from men, to whom God gives a ministry.
